Jodi Hockinson, Narrator of The Courtship of Miss Loretta Larson, Interview Continued

Interview with Jodi Hockinson

Part 2

Questions and Answeres Continued

6. What types of books have you recorded?  Although I have recorded countless voice-overs and shorter productions, The Courtship of Miss Loretta Larson was my first full-length book. What a great beginning!

7. Why did you want to read two of my books?
I loved the stories, I love your writing, and feel as though I am in my element with the southern accent.  Although I was raised to speak relatively accent-free, I was often surrounded by elegant southern ladies who would have been missing a little charm if it were not for their beautiful southern accents.
8. What are your passions in life?
I love to study and learn new things - I would be a full-time student if I could!  I love projects and challenges.  I adore the elderly, and could listen to their stories all day long.  I love to read, and enjoy writing.  I love music of all types.
9. Have you had other careers?
I have worked for the county tax collector for about 18 years, and am currently interning in a skilled nursing and rehab facility as a DTR (dietetic technician, registered).  I have worked as a “weather girl” on the local county access channel.  My husband and I own and operate Southeast Media Productions, a full service video/audio/broadcast production company.
10. What else would you like us to know about you?

I would like to add that I am so thankful for the opportunity to work with you - it has been such a pleasure!

Jodi Hockinson, Narrator of The Courtship of Miss Loretta Larson

Interview with Jodi Hockinson

Part 1

Jodi recently recorded  The Courtship of Miss Loretta Larson.

Always eager to know the person behind the voice a little better, I asked her for an interview. (Actually I've become well acquainted with Jodi. She is warm, enthusiastic, and professional. She's punctual and dependable. She  always gives more than she promises.)

Jodi lives in Palm Coast, Florida. Here's a picture called First Light Over the Atlantic, showing the loveliness of Palm Coast.

As you read about Jodi,  try to catch a glimpse of her beautiful spirit.

1. How did you become interested in narrating books?
My first husband suffered from a brain tumor, and although he loved to read, he was unable to, because reading for him caused horrendous headaches.   Over the years, I read many books to him.  He loved historical fiction, spy novels and horror fiction.

2. Do you also write books?
Yes, I have written a number of cookbooks for people with gout, and a cookbook for people with ulcerative colitis (as Jodi Schneiter).  I also wrote and narrated, "Make Money with Florida Taxes."

3. Tell us about your company.
Southeast Media Productions, a full service production company.  We produce voice-overs, motivational (self improvement) or informative audio as well as story telling for adults and children.  We have produced documentaries, countless local commercials, public service announcements, promotional videos, etc.
4. Where did you study?
I have a B.A. in Social Sciences/History from Thomas Edison State College, an A.A. in Liberal Arts with Polk State College, and am nearing completion of an A.A.S. as a Dietetic Technician with Central Arizona College.
5. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Houston, Texas.  My mother was from South Dakota, and my father was born in Buffalo Springs, Texas.  Although we lived in the south, I did not get a chance to get my first taste of grits until I was about eleven.  I have been in love with them ever since!

INTERVIEW TO BE CONTINUED.

Searching for Pinkie the Cat

Today, August 25, 2015, is the last day to download The Courtship of Miss Loretta Larson for free at Amazon.

Loretta has other news. Jodi Hockinson, an amazing narrator, has recorded the book. The Audible form is available at Amazon and also at Audible

And more news: Jodi and her husband have a company that can do all sorts of amazing audio projects. They're working on a video trailer for Loretta Larson. In the meantime, I've been looking for pictures. The trailer will be released soon.

Having located a picture of Bruiser, the dog who appears in Secret Promise and The Courtship of Miss Loretta Larson, I decided to look for a picture of Pinkie, Loretta's cat. I'm not sure yet how we'll use the pet pictures.

I need to go to the ophthalmologist, but I'm having so much fun writing I don't want to take time to have my eyes dilated.

Here's the story. Yesterday I found a picture that I thought was a perfect representation of Pinkie as I described her, but the picture has something unusual about it. I didn't notice the problem until I enlarged it in Paint.

Don't forget to download The Courtship of Miss Loretta Larson today. While you're there, listen to Jodi Hockinson read the first three minutes. Just click on the speaker under Loretta's picture.

Miss Larson Will Become Audible Soon.

The Courtship of Miss Loretta Larson has a new cover designed for the Audible version by Rosie Buhrer. The one you see here is the final choice, and it has been submitted.

Jodi Hockinson has read the text, I've listen to it and approved. Not only did I approve . . . I loved the great job of reading she did.  We've sent it to Amazon to finish the formatting.

In a few days, Amazon, Audible, and I-Tunes will release it. (By the way, each seller sets the prices, and I have no control over that part.)

If you've already read this book on your Kindle, please let me know what you thought.
