A six-year-old boy named Buddy Benton wanted to go to
Niagara Falls. Buddy, his twin sister Bailey, and their father Samuel placed
coins in their dream bucket. Since some of the coins were rare, they were worth
more than their face value. Because the time was the early 1900’s, it was
possible to place coins in a bucket and have enough money to go on a trip.
This is one of the stories in The Dream Bucket by Mary Lou
Cheatham. When someone stole the bucket, Buddy, along with the other members of
his family and the neighbors, could not contain the oppressive disappointment. Did
Buddy get to go to Niagara Falls?
